Hergouth’s language is music, sonorous and rhythmic. The predominant intervals provided the original title (“Seconds”) and the gentle dialogue hinted at in the text: Seconds and octaves resulted in a planar harmony on the one hand and an overlying lyrical line led mostly in octaves. Onomatopoeic elements formed the last part (“ticking”), woven with a quote from the opening bars. The first performance took place on 17 February 2011 within the festival Styria cantat IV by the youth ensemble „Arcadia“ (Direction: Ulla Kriebernegg)
