Is the fifth part of Canticle of the Sun. At this point the contents of the Covertext change course into somewhat more serious direction as the sufferers are induced to praise God. For the sake of His love they endure their pain, because He, the Almighty, will crown them in the end. In a sensitive manner, reflecting the atmosphere of the text, Franz M. Herzog lets the pain – caused by malady (bars 20-27) become perceptible to the singers and the audience through discordance and ever more energetic second intervals, as well as through quarter triplets which run against the natural pulse of the quarters. However, peace (bars 33-34-9 in forgiveness and suffering is also expressed before this a cappella performed section of the cycle finds its “crowning” conclusion. (helblingchoral.com)
