The Lamb

Although several years separate the appearance of these two choral compositions, they nevertheless belong together. The Tyger (Helbling, C7949), a work commissioned by styria cantat, and The Lamb are settings of poems by William Blake, in which the gentle lamb forms the antithesis of the ferocious tiger. The music, too, is characterised by stirring contrasts, but at the same time contains subtle interconnections. Composed with exceptional sensitivity, The Lamb is a major enrichment of the concert repertoire for both chamber choirs and dedicated amateur choirs, and both in combination with The Tyger or as a stand-alone choral work.
